Top 5 Things to See at Oshkosh 2019

It’s almost time again for the “World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,” the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event – undoubtedly one of our favorite aviation events of the year.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary in Oshkosh with 880 exhibitors and over 500,000 attendants, this year is sure to be a good one. It’s not too early to start planning for the July event, so we’ve created a list of our top five must-see highlights at Oshkosh 2019.

Astronaut Michael Collins to Highlight Apollo 11 50th Anniversary

Apollo 11 command module pilot Michael Collins will be joined by fellow Apollo astronaut Joe Engle on Friday, July 26 at the Theater in the Woods evening program, hosted by four-time space shuttle astronaut Charlie Precourt. Collins will be the featured guest this year as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, which in July 1969 marked the first successful moon landing and return mission made by mankind.

“Year of the Fighter”

Experience almost 100 years of history this summer and see legendary military aircrafts dating back to World War II. In conjunction with the US Air Force Air Combat Command, EAA Warbirds of America, and individual owners, this incredible collection will be in-flight and on display with opportunities to participate in special related programs.

Drone Light Show

Fun for all ages, this incredible light show is back by popular demand for its second year at Oshkosh. Watch Great Lakes Drone Company light up the night sky with over 100 drones with dazzling synchronization and precision. You definitely don’t want to miss their original show this year, a 10-minute “History of Flight” show featuring musical accompaniment.

You can also stop by their exhibit in the Main Aircraft Display are to engage with operators and software developers and learn more about their company.

Daily Air Shows

You can’t miss this AirVenture classic! Watch some of the world’s most talented acrobatic pilots perform daily throughout the week. This is one of the most popular features of the event, attracting thousands of fans to admire precise acrobatics, aircraft innovations, and unique flying examples.

Day-time shows will run throughout the week with two additional night shows.

Twilight Flight Fest

Debuted in 2017, this event will be back this year and bigger than ever. Experience highly-modified bush aircrafts and witness the incredible power and ability of these unique vehicles. You won’t want to miss the Patriot Parachute Team and Red Bull Air Force skydivers, who will be demonstrating the possibilities of parachutes and wing-suits. Wrap up the night with 3D RC demonstrations and see large-scale RC aircrafts show off their lights, lasers, and smoke effects.
